High quality holiday cottages in a fabulous location by the Manifold Track (15 minutes to Alton Towers) We are pleased to offer two delightful self-catering cottages in the village of Waterhouses, on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park. The cottages lie in the valley of the river Hamps, which winds its way between wooded hillsides and spectacular cliffs to join the river Manifold. Alongside the rivers runs the track of the old Manifold Light Railway, which is ideal for cycling or walking. We offer a day's cycling to all our guests Waterhouses has a village shop and a pub serving "pub grub" within 10 minutes walk. There are several other pubs around, including the Camra award winning Yew Tree, an experience not to be missed! |
The Peak District provides the chance to try a multitude of activitities - water sports, swimming, riding, bird watching, fishing, rock Climbing, to name but a few. We are only 15 mins from Alton Towers theme park! Also nearby for the children is Gulliver's Kingdom, Birdworld and a rare breeds farm. We are only 7 miles from both the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne noted for antique shops and pine furniture; and within easy reach of historic houses, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall; and the Potteries, where Wedgewood, Royal Doulton and others offer fascinating factory tours and shops selling their wares. Nearby Pooles Cavern is a fun and interesting place to visit too. |
